Public transport and fuel prices

A chara, – All across the country, media outlets have been covering the price drop in forecourt fuel products. The AA has been monitoring the situation and informing the public where the best prices are available.

This has been welcomed by all consumers but not all are benefiting. There have been numerous fare increases for bus and rail operators in recent years. We were told that fuel costs were a substantial part of these increases. The last increase was less than two months ago. When are the travelling public going to benefit from the drop in oil prices? The costs of the transport providers have dropped considerably and this benefit has not been passed on.

The National Transport Authority needs to look into this and inform the public why there has been no mention of lowering fares. – Is mise,
