Putting a spoke in bicycle theft

Madam, - I read recently about the Canadian police's success in catching "one of the world's most prolific bicycle thieves" by merely planting a few bicycles around Toronto and waiting to see who stole them.

Isn't it high time the Garda Síochána saddled up to put the brakes on this rampant crime? Garda leaders might plead a lack of sufficient manpower to implement this simple and effective measure. But they would find many willing volunteers among the thousands of victims of bicycle thefts many of which go unreported. I'd be there, with bells on. - Yours, etc,
