Sir, - I note from your paper that a press release from the ESB states it is considering what option it will pursue to upset the recent decision of Cork County Council to withdraw planning permission in respect of the erection of overhead pylons in the Cobh and harbour area. Apparently it is undecided as to whether to call for a judicial enquiry or to appeal to An Bord Pleanala.
Might I respectfully suggest to the board and management of the State company that there is another option, which if exercised will restore respect for the ESB among the population of the Cork Harbour area. That is to place the cable underground in the harbour area and thereby carry out the wishes of the vast majority of the citizens living in Cobh and the Cork Harbour area, and also to carry out the wishes of the elected public representatives for the entire county of Cork on Cork County Council, who voted by a huge majority against overhead pylons. - Yours, etc., Charles Hennessy,
TC, Passage West Town Commission, Cork.
