Madam, - Ciarán Cuffe, TD says that "Dublin Bus has indicated that it intends shortening the number 17 route . . .which will free up additional buses". In my opinion, he continues to overlook the key point of the debate, which is that there is no demand for a QBC on Mount Merrion Avenue.
Why would one introduce a bus corridor on Mount Merrion Avenue when you have an average of 3.5 passengers on one bus and 4.8 passengers on the other? (Survey - Mount Merrion Residents Association, April 17th.) Needless to say we would all be in favour of a QBC were the opposite to be true.
There is a shortage of buses and there are other areas in the city crying out for QBCs. Surely the councillors and TDs could better serve the electorate by focusing on areas where the demand for QBCs is clearly not being met. - Yours, etc.,
DECLAN MEAGHER, Mount Merrion Avenue, Blackrock, Co Dublin.
