Sir, - Here in Graz, we have the best audible pedestrian crossings I have ever experienced: they click rather than beep, slowly when red and faster when green. Their volume is also magically right, as about halfway across the road you begin to hear the one in front of you while the one you are leaving behind begins to fade. The sound is positively soothing. Maybe they deserve a trial in Dublin alongside the bleepers. - Yours, etc.,
