Sir, - I am angry that the film Calling the Ghosts, shown on RTE last Monday (November 23rd) at 11.35 p.m., was screened so late at night.
As a member of a coalition of groups (Amnesty International, Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, Ireland Action for Bosnia and other women's human rights groups), I have been lobbying RTE for almost 18 months to have Calling the Ghosts shown at prime viewing time, followed by a discussion on the disturbing events highlighted in the film - the systematic rape of Bosnian women in Omarska camp by Serb paramilitaries.
In this week of the international campaign, "No Violence Against Women", I do not understand why this film was shown so late at night. In contrast, Channel 4's Dispatches programme addressed the recent prevalence of gang rape in Britain by dedicating a primetime slot to a documentary followed by a debate. - Yours, etc., Sarah Gilnagh,
