Rathfarnham Chapel

Sir, - With my Loreto friends, I too felt sad at the closure of their mother house in Rathfarnham. I have a happy memory of that wonderful Pugin Chapel. However I disagree with Fr Bailey (March 14th) when he pleads that it be kept for its original purpose "Catholic Christian worship". In this day and age of a multi-faith society many have no connection with any part of the Catholic Church, Roman or otherwise. Such a place - in a city with too many churches for the declining congregations - should be set aside as a "sacred space" for all those living near it, no matter what their religious faith is. Even those who have no faith can appreciate a place of silence and meditation and insuch a sacred space they may find what they are looking for. - Yours, etc.,
