A chara, - Having been born in the Coombe, with strong family connections to the area, I now proudly live in the heart of the Liberties. I back Thomas Legge (April 15th) in his call for Dublin to resist the rebranding of the Liberties as "SoHo".
While I welcome further regeneration of the area, the proposed name leaves me cold. It suggests a seedy area of London rather than a thriving community just outside Dublin's old city walls.
I do not want my great grandfather, Pádraig Breathnach, to be rebranded as the last silk weaver of SoHo. Let's not lose another piece of Dublin, even if it is only a name, to so-called progress. - Is mise,
