Madam, - One can only lament how much money was wasted, how much hot air expelled, how many egos required deflating and how many expensive feasibility studies were commissioned before the Government finally succumbed to common sense and public opinion and took the courageous, ground-breaking and pioneering decision to build the new national stadium on the site of the old one.
Perhaps the Government could offer the construction contract for the stadium to those responsible for the Luas, so that we can start looking forward to rugby and football internationals well ahead of schedule with absolutely no possibility of interruption to the neighbouring DART line for the duration of the building work! - Yours, etc.,
GARETH MURPHY, Sussex Road, Dublin 4.
