Madam, - Before the referendum we were assured it was in no way racist, but was simply to close a loophole in order to bring us into line with the rest of Europe.
If the Government was really sincere, and if this was not in reality just another deterrent to potential refugees, there are other ways in which we are also out of line.
We should now see abortion legalised, and possibly even some amelioration of the smoking ban. Don't hold your breath. - Yours, etc.,
