Referendum on judges' pay

Madam, – It would appear from the Constitution that “a” judge’s pay may not be reduced, thus ensuring a judge cannot be victimised…

Madam, – It would appear from the Constitution that “a” judge’s pay may not be reduced, thus ensuring a judge cannot be victimised by the government. There is no Article to protect all judges from national economic necessity.

It would be far more financially worthwhile to “victimise” those groups who brought the country to its knees, from the previous administration, banks and higher echelons of the Department of Finance, as well as regulatory bodies, who have thus far suffered no sanction. They have retired, or moved on at huge cost to the taxpayer, and huge profit to themselves. They would make a better target to help reduce the financial burden on the Irish population.

I, for one, will be voting against this ridiculous referendum. – Yours, etc,
