Sir, - Now that the annual, commercial treadmill has started wearing down parents' resistance, I have resolved to tell my 11-month old son, as soon as he can understand such things, that Santa doesn't exist.

Would it be, I wonder, such a heinous crime against childhood to say instead: "Your parents and friends give you presents at Christmas to celebrate and re-enact the birth of Jesus, to whom gifts were given on His birthday"?
