Madam, - In response to the vitriol that has been appearing on this page under the above heading may I offer the following? The Angelus at 6 p.m. daily. An evening prayer nightly. Mass broadcast every Sunday. Where? On RTÉ television, of course.

This, of course, is programming and not advertising - I am aware of the difference. I wonder, however, if it is wise for people who have their faith catered to daily by the national broadcaster to unleash a storm of self-righteous indignation whenever a mere advertisement for something pertaining to that faith is blocked? This is the second such storm in a few months.

Perhaps, instead of worrying about advertisements for the Irish Catholic and immoral behaviour on Fair City (Vera Hughes, Letters, December 12th), some writers should pick up a Bible, consult Matthew's gospel (5:38 is a good place to start) and learn to turn the other cheek? - Yours, etc.,
