Sir, – I enjoyed reading Alfie Mulligan’s obituary (April 21st) having spent many happy times imbibing in Hartigan’s. A rite of passage for many customers who may have enjoyed themselves too much, was to be asked to leave. Usually Alfie gave the orders and Evelyn executed them with aplomb.
