NIGEL P. COOKE,
Madam, - I look forward to the day when the President's attendance at a Remembrance Day service is no longer news. Indeed, I would go further and welcome not only the attendance of the Irish Ambassador to Britain at the UK Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph in London, but also the laying of a wreath there on behalf of the Irish nation. I say this as one who took part in the original Bloody Sunday and other Civil Rights marches and activities in my native Derry and who does not view the British military or political establishments in the most favourable light. Nevertheless, it behoves us to honour all our dead and to make every feasible effort to advance the peace and reconciliation process between the peoples of these islands. - Yours etc.,
NIGEL P. COOKE, Croydon, Surrey, England.
