Sir, – Today I received my annual 15-minute “renewal of policy” call from my health insurer. These conversations are outrageous. I’m always left feeling baffled and scammed. One would need an encyclopedia of the likelihood of occurrence of ailments, a degree in statistics and a crystal ball to have any clue how to answer their questions. Today I actually found myself considering a more expensive policy. This was until I was told that, under it, I would not be entitled to receive my additional (maternity!) benefits for an entire year. Apparently this is to do with “Government policy”. I just wish that said Government would get on with introducing universal healthcare. – Yours, etc,
GERALDINE JOHNSTON,
