Rental crisis and landlords

Sir, – The feature article on the difficulties for landlords ("Rental crisis – why landlords are struggling to make money", November 16th) has helped greatly to redress the anti-landlord bias in the media. I own several modest, unmortgaged properties in my local area. Rents are so low that, after all expenses and tax, my income from each property is almost not worth the trouble of renting them.

Perhaps those with difficulties in Dublin could consider, if their circumstances allow it, decentralising and moving to the country, where they would save money, not only because of lower rents but also the lower cost of living generally. – Yours, etc,

SEAN O’SULLIVAN,
