Madam, - May I please draw the attention of your readers to the threat to our old traditional post boxes, eg at Terenure, Greenlea Road, Rathmines, and many other places?
For more than 10 years these have been left unpainted, but they are made of very solid material and have so far survived.
These beautiful postboxes are an important part of our postal history, as An Taisce pointed out many years ago, and are part of the street architecture of our towns and cities.
I appeal to Mr John Gormley, Minister for the Environment, to save them. - Yours, etc,
