Madam, - Vincent Browne (March 9th) admonishes us lawyers not to "lose the run" of ourselves but it is incumbent on us to run to correct his error in promulgating the "venerable" Larceny Act, 1916 as the "relevant law" on the issue of the "theft" of pensions from those in state residential care.

The Larceny Act, 1916 was repealed by the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001 which substantively amended the definition of stealing. - Yours, etc.,
