Madam, - I welcome the Christmas message of the Archbishop of Dublin, Dr Diarmuid Martin, which calls for "respect for the many differences in Ireland today" and reminds us that "a culture which attempts to impose its views and interests through force undermines the rule of law and is a threat to democracy."
I will be very interested to know of his organisation's plans to respect the views of the many non-Catholic parents who have little choice but to send their children to schools controlled by the Catholic Church.
It is not only charity that begins at home. Respect for the views of others starts at home and should be maintained in all our schools whatever their ethos. - Yours, etc,
ANDREW DOYLE, Bandon, Co Cork.
