Madam: There is no need to “think outside the box” about our future energy security (Dick Ahlstrom, Innovation, January 5th). Our predecessors did that for us 50 years ago. They discovered a way to harness the energy in uranium to generate electricity.
This process now generates about 16 per cent – and rising – of the world’s electricity. It also produces next to no greenhouse gases. Ireland still seems to prefer dirty peat and wind. A lot of people need to smarten up their ideas. – Yours, etc,
