Madam, - I am writing a biography of Rev Patrick Heron (1897-1977), who was born in Ballinascreen, Co Derry, and I would be grateful for information from readers on his life and work.
After ordination in 1925, he taught in St Columb's College, Derry before going to Glasgow, where he remained until 1931. On his return he served as curate in Aghadowey, Magilligan, Desertmartin, Clonmany and Strabane. He was appointed as parish priest of Plumbridge, Co Tyrone, in 1952.
He is remembered as a colourful parish priest, as a linguist, and as someone who collected the Irish language and lore of Ballinascreen.
I would appreciate information, anecdotal and other, on his appointments, correspondence, publications, etc. Unless otherwise instructed, I will recognise the contribution of all informants in the book. Céad fáilte roimh litreacha i nGaeilge, ar ndóigh. - Yours, etc.,
