Sir, – I read with interest the letter in Friday's paper (September 29th) from a concerned reader taking issue with the cost of tolls on his route from Dún Laoghaire to Drogheda, and in particular this being an example of the people of the east subsidising the roads in the west.
On the other hand, had your reader gone south to Gorey rather than north to Drogheda, he could have travelled over 80km on the completely toll-free M11.
I would suggest on the evidence that this is not an east/west transfer but rather Northsiders unfairly subsidising Southsiders. Perish the thought. – Is mise,
