Madam, - I have just returned from a month in Paris where I had the joyful experience of using the city's Metro and RER rail systems. I travelled extensively throughout Paris and never had to wait more than three minutes for a train, never encountered a single delay and never once experienced those chilling words: "Due to a power failure at Connolly Station there will be no northbound DART service until further notice."
How come the French can run an efficient suburban rail system for a city of 2.5 million people and we can't manage a simple train service between Howth and Bray without daily delays, cancellations and systems failures? - Yours, etc.,
