Sir, – Last year my car insurance cost €365. After a claims-free year and with no other changes, the insurer is offering a renewal for €506, an increase of 39 per cent. Although I am very unlikely to vote for them in the next election, it seems that the only political party that is serious about tackling this type of practice by the insurance industry is Sinn Féin. – Yours, etc,
