Madam, - To attend the funeral of a dear departed relative in Co Meath, on October 26th, I travelled via the Stena Line fast ferry service from Holyhead to Dún Laoghaire, departing at 4 a.m. and returning to Wales the same day on the 9 p.m. from Ireland.
As someone who has made this journey hundreds of times since 1965, the weather was the worst that I had ever experienced - really atrocious to put it mildly. The stabilising quality of the vessel and the skill, courage and determination of the captain and his crew deserve the highest of praise.
I'm certain that I speak for all the passengers when I say: "Thank you all most sincerely for a safe journey". - Yours, etc.,
