Sir, - Fergus Brogan, (Television Highlights, July 25th) seeks to perpetrate the myth that RTE has some sort of Dublin bias. Perhaps Mr Brogan could detail where he sees it. The reality is that while RTE does report on national events taking place in Dublin, issues of and about Dublin as a living city and county get scant coverage from the national broadcasting station.

The South, the South East, the West and Northern Ireland all have regional correspondents and the excellent Nationwide programme continues to give wide coverage to regional issues. Dublin alone, with one third of the population of the country, has been denied the same resource by RTE management.

A start could be made by appointing a Dublin correspondent, occasionally including a Dublin issue in the Nationwide programme, and above all recognising that Irish life is not confined to the area beyond "the Pale". - Yours, etc.,
