Madam, - Beverley Flynn is being unfairly scapegoated for sins which, if committed - and the unequivocal evidence has not been definitively verified - were, arguably, in at least equal measure attributable to National Irish Bank, motivated by its profit-making ethos.
If irregularities did indeed occur, then why should not NIB be brought to book and publicly held accountable for those putative financial transgressions? Now that Ms Flynn has finalised her settlement with RTÉ, there is no reason - logically, morally, ethically or legally - why she should not pursue her political career, and, in due course, occupy ministerial office, at the discretion of the Taoiseach. She undoubtedly has the ability to so do. There is no cogent evidence that she committed any criminal offence during her period of employment with NIB and she has taken the honourable course by negotiating and discharging her legal expenses debt to RTÉ's satisfaction. - Is Mise,

Madam, - As, contrary to my intentions, you published my name and address when I decided to withhold my licence fee, I will have to take a leaf out of Ms Flynn's book and negotiate a deal with RTÉ. Do your readers have any suggestions as to what a fair amount might be? - Yours, etc,
