Sir, - Just about a year ago I wrote to you concerning the litter on the motorway from Dublin to Kildare. Then it was constant and disgusting.
Now, having again made that journey, I can confirm that the road remains in the same filthy condition with the grass verges, the hedges, fences and trees displaying a great variety of plastic bags, papers, rags and occasional pieces of furniture.
Could an official from the Department of the Environment, South Dublin County Council or Kildare County Council please inform concerned taxpayers if they are aware of the disgraceful condition of our highways - or is it only the cranks and visitors who notice this very serious national failing? - Yours, etc.,
