Madam, – Reading about the forthcoming rugby match between Ireland and England, my thoughts went back to that infamous occasion, almost exactly four years ago, when the present manager of the England team (then the captain) insulted not only the President, but also the Irish people and the IRFU by refusing to line up his team where requested.

Instead, he insisted on taking the place allocated to the Ireland team.

Would it be too much to expect, now that he is more mature, and presumably more responsible, not only that he ensure there is no repetition of his bad manners, but perhaps also that he apologise, belatedly, for them? – Yours, etc,
