Sir, - On behalf of the members of Dochas I wish to pay tribute to the work of President Robinson for the peoples of the developing countries during her term as President. Dochas represents 24 non-governmental organisations involved in supporting the development efforts of those peoples.As non-governmental organisations we depend on the support of the Irish public, whose generosity exceeds that of any other country. That generosity and support was given very eloquent expression by the personal visits to Somalia and Rwanda by President Robinson and by her subsequent representations of the plight of their peoples at the United Nations. In so doing she also validated the work of our member organisations. Her direct engagement was a source of pride for our staff members both at home and overseas.We wish her well in her future career as United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. - Yours, etc.,P.J.
