Sir, - Is it seriously being proposed that if the anti-democratic Provos falter in their obligations towards decommissioning then the democratically-constructed devolved government of Northern Ireland and all the other cross border bodies that go with such a government will be terminated?

Surely this is logic at its most cock-eyed. The Provos now have what they never imagined they'd have, their long sought after veto - the power of life and death over the longevity of the next government of Northern Ireland.

And this is democracy? Not your finest hour, Messrs Blair and Ahern. - Yours, etc.,
