Madam, – As another Minister resigns, I can’t help but wonder will the Government hold itself to the strict new rules they have applied to the public sector. No replacement of staff who leave, those left behind to cover all work arising from vacancies, and no additional allowances or pay for anyone who acts into a position that has been left vacant.

There seems to be general agreement at Government level that these practices can be implemented and civil and public servants can absorb this work without impact. If this is the case there should be no problem for those at the top to lead by example. – Yours, etc,
