Madam, – It is an absolute disgrace that this Government has not yet tied down the assets of those owing large amounts of money to the banks, and of course to the taxpayer. Court injunctions should have been secured years ago to recoup monies owed. People should not have been given time to transfer or hide assets.
In contrast, if you have an elderly relative who needs full-time care in a home, under the Fair Deal, the government can go back five years on the cared-for person’s assets and secure payment for the cost of care given. Any assets disposed of by the cared-for person in the previous five years will have to be revisited, or if they have a property being lived in by their spouse, the property will eventually be sold by the State to pay for care.What a Government. – Yours, etc,
