Sir, - I have been a contented teacher for 14 years. Before that I spent seven years, at my own expense and by my own choice, qualifying myself in the subjects that I teach, and in education. I now hold a temporary one-year contract. For every teaching post I have ever held, I have been interviewed, vetted, and had to supply complete qualifications and references.
In March, as a TUI member, I will continue to provide, along with my professional duties, extra voluntary unpaid ones, such as supervision. I am, however, perplexed to learn that unqualified, unvetted adults will be entering my school to supervise, after one day's "training". I am aghast to learn that they will receive, for a day's supervision, far more than I ever earned for a day's teaching.
Could someone please explain this, in the light of equality legislation? - Yours etc.,
