Madam, - In reply to Máire Crumlish (December 7th), who suggests that belief is "better than taking Valium or some such substance to make me feel good", may I quote Shaw?
"The fact that a believer is happier than a sceptic is no more to the point than the fact than a drunken man is happier than a sober one."
Perhaps Ms Crumlish should admit her addiction, join "believers anonymous" and start taking one day at a time. It could be her gift to the rest of us. - Yours, etc.,
