Sir, - Frank McDonald's report "Estate in appeal against local scouting centre" (The Irish Times, August 28th), was of great interest to all the residents of Lough Dan.
The article referred to "50 named local residents" who are opposed to the development. This figure implies the whole community of Lough Dan and this is incorrect. There are not, in fact, 50 residents in the Lough Dan area. Furthermore, the vast majority of the genuine local residents were not approached by anyone seeking opinions either for or against the development.
This type of misrepresentation annoys us. It is not the first time that this has happened, but we hope that, on this occasion, this letter will set the record straight. - Yours, etc.,
