JOHN F. DOYLE,
Madam, - There is continual speculation as to what the Star of Bethlehem actually was. But if Jesus was born today, many people would be unable to see it anyway.
The increasing level of light pollution, increased at this time of year by various Christmas decorations including, ironically, imitation stars, means that in many places it has become impossible to see the brilliance that is the night sky. We are the poorer for it. - Yours, etc.,
JOHN F. DOYLE, Midleton, Co Cork.
