DONAL O'DRISCOLL,
Madam, - Bob Quinn (Opinion, February 24th) is something more than "an independent film-maker".
He was an equally independent member of the Authority. He resigned from that board in June 1999 three years before normal retirement and wrote a book in which he gives his experiences and his reasons for resigning. They were not frivolous reasons.
It is a measure of RTÉ's secrecy that, apart from Vincent Browne (who is, incidentally, a part-time employee only of RTÉ), RTÉ was unwilling to test either Quinn himself or his ideas in an open TV or radio forum.
His book Maverick - A Dissident View of Broadcasting Today, was published by Brandon Books at around €20. It is required reading for anyone studying this powerful, but secretive, organisation. - Yours, etc.,
