TOM DANE,
Sir, - After the publication of the University of Ulster report into sectarianism in Northern children as young as six (The Irish Times June 25th), is it not time for a radical change in the education system?
Segregated education must be abolished and a mixed system implemented. Religion should be totally removed from education. Only by children mixing from an early age will they learn to understand and accept other cultures and traditions.
Surely the Assembly - and especially the Minister for Education in the North - have a duty to examine the situation in the light of this report and to make the necessary changes to ensure that another generation of children do not grow up in such a way. - Yours, etc.,
TOM DANE, Mountsandel Road, Coleraine, Co Derry.
