Sir, – Muiris Houston (Second Opinion, April 21st) harks back to an earlier day in using Latin to urge his fellow doctors "carpe diem", ie "seize the day".
The full quotation from Horace's ode is even more revealing: "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero" or "Seize the day, trusting as little as possible in the future".
