Sir, - I was intrigued to learn recently that Graham Knuttel is "the most important painter ever to come out of Ireland." According to whom? His own publicity brochure for his latest exhibition. Well, a gold star and a lollipop to you, Mr Knuttel, or maybe even a free ticket to the National Gallery. At least when there you might shed some light on the shortfalls of Jack B. and his cohorts.
The final line of the brochure states that this "great virtues are made acceptable by a self-depreciation and lack of pomposity, all the time knowing and confident of what he is." Quite. - Yours, etc., John Kane,
