Sir, - Congratulations to your Irishman's Diary correspondent, Joe Humphries, for taking the trouble to give blood, a worthwhile and generous gesture. His column goes some way to providing a testimony to the professionalism of the donor staff at Pelican House. Those of us who donate regularly feel that this is overdue and is apt to be forgotten in the shadow of other tragic events.
Let us hope that Mr Humphries's effort, and his reportage of same will encourage others to make the same gesture and enable the BTSB to continue in its primary function of providing an indigenous blood resource for those victims of accident and illness whose lives depend on the selflessness of others. - Yours, etc.,
