Sir, - I have read with interest the reports in your paper on the impending arrival in O'Connell Street of an Ann Summers "sex shop". One would think we were expecting the arrival of a group of aliens from outer space. Just as buying stamps in the GPO is an everyday occurrence for many people, likewise buying a book in Easons or going for tea in Clerys, surely something as natural and everyday as sex deserves a retail outlet on the country's main urban thoroughfare. Or do we still think sexuality should be hidden away and denied as it has been for years in this country, with horribly distorting effects on people's lives? My only problem is that no Irish entrepreneur has had the foresight to open such an outlet. - Yours, etc., Laurence Kavanagh,
