Sir, – Apropos John Wilson Foster’s letter bemoaning the lack of a “Shared Islands Unit”: we actually had one (October 27th).
It worked well and British and Irish governments used it regularly to consult, liaise and tic-tac both at official and unofficial levels. It’s called the EU and the UK voluntarily left it. – Yours, etc,
