Madam, – I recently received a oneGOV newsletter, which has been sent to every public servant in the country (with the stated aim of keeping people informed of key developments in the Transforming Public Services programme). I sent an e-mail to the Department of the Taoiseach stating how I thought it was inappropriate in the current climate and wasteful of both time and money, as in my opinion no one reads such publications and if they do have time to do so during working hours then their positions should be reviewed.
I received a letter in response stating, as requested, that it costs just over €18,000 to publish one issue (there are four issues per year).
It seems to me that this money would be far better spent on, for example, four part-time special needs assistants. – Yours, etc,
