Madam, – Both Jim McDaid and Dermot Ahern should step down. Mr McDaid for his bad sportsmanship in refusing to give the State his pension, Mr Ahern for his bullyboy tactics with the Garda Representative Association.
If the upholders of the country’s law cannot get fairness and justice from this Government, workers’ unions have no hope.
I am a grandmother of eight children. Aged between two years and nine years, they are facing a future of debts allowed by this Government, which is well overpaid, and which is not doing the job it was were elected to do.
I never experienced the Celtic Tiger, my Christmas bonus was taken, my pension was reduced.
In my only part-time and inconsistent job (as a film extra), rates have been drastically reduced. For example, my last job was in February 2010. I worked 14 hours for the sum of €68 (social welfare deducted). The film was about gangsters!
The Government jet should be sold, the electricity should be turned down in the Dáil. At night it looks like a neon city. We all have to cut down, why can’t the leaders too? – Yours, etc,
