Sharing the roads

Sir, – As a conscientious cyclist I endeavour to use cycle lanes in Dublin when they are of reasonable quality and free of pedestrians and parked cars. During the summer I cycled from Dundrum towards Churchtown and a passenger in the car trailing me began yelling from its open window, urging me to use the lane. I looked back to see the obnoxious individual was a driving instructor, with a student at the wheel.
