Sir, - Now that the tourist season is about to start in this beautiful country of ours and one of our main industries is gearing itself to earn much needed revenue for our economy, one item that appears to go unnoticed and requires urgent attention, to guide our visitors from place to place, is our road signs, or should I say the lack of them.

The main roads are bad enough, but venture off our main routes outside our cities and you will certainly get lost and end up miles away from your destination. If you do eventually come across a sign, it usually has been turned in the opposite direction by locals who appear to have nothing better to do. A German tourist last year told me that their Tour Guidebook warns of our inadequate road sign system and goes on to say that the wind turns the signs around, and to ask someone for directions.

The writer has first hand experience on the matter and wonders when the local authorities are going to get their act together and live up to their responsibilities to provide proper signs. - Yours etc.
