SIGNS OF THE TIMES

Sir, - This morning as I drove through Ballsbridge at 8.30 a.m., I saw a man lying motionless on the footpath. I stopped my car to go back to him. In the space of two or three minutes, dozens of people passed within a few feet of him. Nobody but one man, who called an ambulance, and myself, checked whether he was alive or dead. Why should they? They were in a hurry to work.

Is this what wealth has done to Irish people? - Yours, etc.,
